EU opens 4-week consultation on battery removal, replacement exemptions

( April 28, 2026, 08:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has opened a four-week consultation on further possible exemptions from EU rules on the removal and replacement of batteries. While the bloc's Batteries Regulation requires products to have batteries that can be replaced by users, the commission is seeking feedback on whether some products should qualify for professional-only replacement on safety grounds, it said.
