EU carbon levy shouldn’t allow broad exemptions, Parliament report says

( April 15, 2026, 09:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Proposed changes to the EU’s carbon border levy, or CBAM, would scrap a broad emergency exemption for goods covered by the instrument. The draft report, presented by center-left lawmaker Mohammed Chahim, also keeps the expansion to downstream products “targeted, predictable, and grounded in objective criteria.” The report must now go through review by lawmakers on the European Parliament’s environment committee.Report attached....
