North Sea Summit pledges European development of 100 GW offshore wind capacity

The industry pledged to reduce electricity generation costs by 30 percent by 2040, and to invest €9.5 billion ($11.3 billion) in new capacities in Europe by 2030. Participants also aimed to demonstrate the potential of offshore wind, as several auction bids were unsuccessful in Europe, and to cut all energy dependencies in the midst of international crisis.Participants at the North Sea Summit in Hamburg, Germany, committed on Monday to develop up to 100 gigawatts in offshore wind capacity through cross-border cooperation projects, as part of an overall target of 300 GW by 2050....
