EU seeks feedback on new binding targets for land-based carbon removal

( November 17, 2025, 13:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission is seeking feedback on revised EU rules introducing new binding targets for member states to achieve additional land-based carbon removals by 2030. The proposal sets out national linear trajectories that establish annual emission and removal budgets for the period 2026–2029. These rules will define annual limit values, expressed in metric tons of CO2 equivalent, for each member state and each year within that period.
