Sweden taken to EU court over failure to adopt renewable permit-granting rules

( October 8, 2025, 10:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has referred Sweden to the EU Court of Justice for not transposing the bloc's rules that simplify and accelerate permit-granting procedures for renewable energy projects. The rules set time limits for permit-granting procedures, strengthen single contact points for applications, and recognize renewable and grid projects as being of overriding public interest. Sweden has not notified any transposition measures, and now faces possible financial penalties.Statement follows....
