Late comments on Constellation deal shouldn't be ignored, Illinois AG tells US FERC

( July 9, 2025, 20:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Illinois' objections to the Constellation-Calpine merger that were articulated in the state's tardily submitted comment on the merger should still be evaluated by the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, despite the merging parties' request for that comment to be ignored due to its late submission, lawyers at the Illinois Attorney General's Office wrote to FERC. "IL OAG timely entered this docket, but did not initially file a comment because the IL OAG supported the comments filed by other parties," Illinois government attorneys wrote. "However, no other party provided information regarding the need for a market power analysis that addressed the risk to RTO submarkets, or local clearing areas or zones resulting from the Constellation/Calpine proposal."See attached document....
