More than half of global solar power in 2024 came from BRICS, think tank says

( July 4, 2025, 08:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The BRICS nations--Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates--produced 51 percent of global solar power in 2024, energy think tank Ember said. China alone was responsible for 39 percent. Between January and April 2025, solar power grew across BRICS members, led by China with 98 terawatt-hours of growth, followed by India with 14.1 TWh and Brazil with 7.9 TWh, while Russia continues to “lag behind,” the report said.
