LNG supply chain’s emissions could be cut by 60 percent at limited costs, IEA says

( June 20, 2025, 11:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Greenhouse gas emissions from the liquefied natural gas supply chain could be reduced by 60 percent using existing technologies, according to a new report by the International Energy Agency. The LNG supply chain is currently responsible for 350 million metric tons of CO2-equivalent emissions. Lowering methane leaks alone would cut 25 percent of total LNG supply emissions at limited cost, the IEA said. Additional solutions include improving process efficiency across the value chain, minimizing flaring, and deploying carbon capture and storage at liquefaction facilities, the report shows.Full press release follows:...
