EU power suppliers should not be hit by mandatory hedging, electricity lobby says

Under the EU electricity market design reform, regulatory authorities must ensure that power suppliers have set appropriate hedging strategies and may oblige them to opt for agreements to cover a share of their risk exposure to changes in wholesale electricity prices in certain markets. “Rather than focusing on mandatory hedging, efforts should target more impactful measures, like enhancing regulatory oversight, ensuring access to necessary financial instruments and promoting innovation,” Eurelectric said....
