Hanwha's share purchase in Korea Aerospace Industries approved by KFTC

( August 31, 2026, 06:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hanwha’s purchase of shares in Korea Aerospace Industries has been approved by South Korea’s competition regulator. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said Monday that Hanwha’s 15.89 percent stake would not give it substantial influence over KAI’s management and does not establish control, and is therefore excluded from a standard merger review. The state-run Export-Import Bank of Korea remains KAI’s largest shareholder with 26.41 percent, followed by the National Pension Service with 8.75 percent. Hanwha would need to make a new merger filing if it acquires additional shares to become KAI’s largest shareholder, or if Hanwha executives account for at least one-third of KAI’s directors or serve as its chief executive, the regulator said.The statement follows (in Korean)....
