Godfrey Hirst's proposal to acquire Bremworth raises antitrust concerns in New Zealand

In a statement of unresolved issues published late on Tuesday, the New Zealand Commerce Commission said it is concerned about the impact of the deal on the national market for the manufacture or import and wholesale supply of soft flooring products. Godfrey Hirst New Zealand, which is listed as the acquirer in the statement, is one of Mohawk Industries’ interconnected body corporates. The regulator said that Godfrey Hirst and Bremworth overlapped nationally in the manufacture and wholesale supply of carpets.
