Toyota Industries, Salesforce–Informatica deals cleared in Japan

( January 30, 2026, 09:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan’s competition watchdog cleared numerous mergers in the October–December period, including Toyota group’s move to take Toyota Industries private and US-based Salesforce’s acquisition of Informatica. According to the Japan Fair Trade Commission’s quarterly merger clearance list published on Friday, the regulator approved the Salesforce–Informatica deal on Nov. 12, and Toyota group’s purchase of Toyota Industries shares on Nov. 7. The JFTC also cleared non-insurer Sompo Holdings’ plan to buy Aspen Insurance on Dec. 18, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking’s increased stake in US-based Jefferies Financial Group to combine SMBC Nikko’s wholesale Japanese equities business with Jefferies on Dec. 25.The statement is attached (in Japanese)....
