Nexstar, Tegna urge US FCC to reject critiques of deal, promptly approve transaction

( January 15, 2026, 18:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Broadcasters Nexstar Media and Tegna — operators of locally-focused news radio and television stations throughout the United States — told the US Federal Communications Commission that opponents to their merger "failed to establish standing as parties in interest" and did not present credible allegations that their deal was harmful. "Those who oppose the Transaction remain anchored in the past," the companies told the FCC. "The archaic constraints that bar local broadcasters from taking steps to achieve the scale necessary to compete in the current competitive environment threaten, rather than foster, localism."See attached document....
