Yamaha's Telwater move continues to raise antitrust concerns in Australia

( October 9, 2025, 06:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Yamaha Motor Australia’s agreement with Bombardier Recreation Products and BRP Australia to acquire 100 percent of the shares in Telwater continues to raise antitrust concerns, the competition regulator has said. In a statement of issues published Thursday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said its preliminary view is that the proposed deal is “likely to have the effect of substantially lessening competition in the wholesale supply of outboard motors in Australia.” The regulator said it is concerned the acquisition may give Yamaha the ability and incentive to link the wholesale supply of Yamaha outboard motors to Telwater aluminum trailer boats. The full statement follows; the Statement of Issues is attached.Yamaha's proposed acquisition of Telwater raises competition concerns...
