Delta-Aeromexico alliance broken apart by US DOT

( September 16, 2025, 19:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Transportation issued an order ending a joint venture operated by Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico. The DOT determined that ongoing anticompetitive effects in US-Mexico City markets provide an unfair advantage to Delta and Aeromexico as two predominant competitors and create unacceptable actual and potential harm for stakeholders, including consumers. “These anticompetitive effects have broader implications beyond Mexico City, affecting competition for passengers and cargo operations in additional markets between the United States and Mexico,” the order said.
