Australian antitrust regulator offers more details on land acquisitions

( September 1, 2025, 07:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Australian competition watchdog has published an updated "Frequently Asked Questions" document with additional details on land acquisitions and informal public reviews before Dec. 31. In the updated FAQs document, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that the regulator may issue letters to parties between July 1 and Dec. 31, which would take effect under Section 189, requiring mandatory merger notification from Jan. 1. 2026, of the 2010 Competition and Consumer Act for acquisitions of interests relating to land. The FAQs also clarify that whether there is sufficient time to “commence and complete an informal public review [before Dec. 31] will be determined on a case-by-case basis.”The updated FAQs document is attached:...
