Kongsberg's notification inaugurates Australia's new mandatory merger regime

By James Panichi ( August 11, 2025, 06:58 GMT | Insight) -- Norwegian aerospace giant Kongsberg Gruppen is behind the first deal to have been notified under Australia’s mandatory and suspensory regime, with the technology group’s local operation, Kongsberg Defence Australia, filing its plan to enter into lease arrangements with a regional airport. According to an entry on the website of the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission, the international technology group intends to lease land adjacent to Newcastle Airport to establish a missile and maintenance facility.
