Ekspress gets two-month extension in Lithuania to restore competition after Lrytas deal

( August 8, 2025, 06:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Estonian company Ekspress Grupp, which owns news portal delfi.lt, has seen the Lithuanian competition authority grant it a two-month deadline extension to comply with its obligations related to its illegal acquisition of news portal lrytas.lt. In February, the watchdog gave the company six months to sell one of its news portals or return to the situation before it acquired Lrytas. In 2023, the company was fined for buying Lrytas without seeking approval for the deal. Ekspress Grupp had asked for a six-month extension, but the watchdog only granted two months to comply with the order, saying it is important that the commitments related to the deal be implemented as quickly as possible.Statement follows (in Lithuanian). ...
