RTL, Sky Deutschland’s lack of impact on TV ads should ease EU approval

It is also highlighting differences between the two companies' business models, as well as how traditional broadcasters are under ever-increasing competition to acquire the acquire the rights to show popular films and sports events. That, it reasons, should stop the deal from stumbling, like previous combinations such as TF1-M6 in France and RTL-Talpa in the Netherlands.RTL found out the hard way that mergers between European TV broadcasters to counter Netflix and Amazon don’t get an easy ride from the bloc’s competition regulators, seeing tie-ups in at least France, the Netherlands and Germany collapse over advertising market concerns.
