New Zealand antitrust regulator targets faster merger reviews in 2025–26

( July 28, 2025, 06:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: New Zealand’s antitrust watchdog has set itself a target to issue 75 percent of phase-1 merger-clearance decisions within 40 working days during the 2025–2026 financial year. In its Statement of Performance Expectations, the New Zealand Commerce Commission also outlined plans to reduce to 10 the average number of working days between a merger decision and the publication of reasons for declined merger-clearance applications, down from 18 days in 2024-2025.
