Constellation divestiture buyer should be smaller than merged entity, market monitor says

( July 10, 2025, 21:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Though power companies Constellation Energy and Calpine Corporation have reached a partial settlement with Monitoring Analytics — the independent market monitor for PJM Interconnection — regarding the scope of divestiture and behavioral merger remedies, the monitor requested that the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission impose strict limits on which companies may purchase divestiture assets. "If the assets are divested to an entity larger than or comparable in size to the merged entity, the result could be to exacerbate rather than mitigate structural market power," Monitoring Analytics said.See attached document. ...
