Liberty Media wins EU approval for MotoGP takeover

( June 23, 2025, 13:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Liberty Media has won EU approval for its plan to buy motorcycle racing championship MotoGP. The European Commission found, following an in-depth probe, that the deal raised no competition concerns on the market for broadcasting rights for sports content. The commission said that MotoGP and Formula One, which Liberty Media already owns, face competition from other types of sport content. It also found there were no concerns that John Malone, Liberty Media’s largest shareholder, could exercise “decisive influence” over Liberty Global, which owns TV channels.Statement follows....
