Rise in merger filings, increase in abandoned deals reported in JFTC annual report

( June 13, 2025, 07:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Japan Fair Trade Commission released its annual report for the fiscal year ending in March, which was submitted to parliament today. According to the report, merger notifications increased to 437 cases — a 26 percent rise from the previous fiscal year. Although no cases reached an in-depth review over the past three fiscal years, the number of withdrawn cases during the initial review has steadily risen from 7 in the year ending in March 2023 to 10 last March, and then to 14 this March.
