Copagril-Cia Paraná de Alimentos asset deal required notification to Brazil CADE

By Flavia Fortes ( June 11, 2025, 21:08 GMT | Insight) -- The Brazilian competition authority ruled today that Cooperativa Agroindustrial Copagril and Cia Paraná de Alimentos should have notified the authority of the sale of supermarket assets before closing their transaction. The lead councilor in the case said that even though Copagril didn’t buy the real estate property where the supermarket is located, that didn't exempt the companies from notifying the regulator of their deal. The Tribunal of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense unanimously voted to require the parties to submit the paperwork, and a fine for jumping the gun will be calculated after a review of the transaction.
