Tighter EU foreign-investment screening rules agreed by national governments

( June 11, 2025, 17:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU governments adopted today a common negotiating position on revamping the bloc’s foreign direct investment screening regulation. It would require all EU countries to have screening mechanisms in place, extend coverage to EU-based firms controlled by non-EU investors, and focus mandatory screening on sensitive sectors such as military and dual-use goods. Final decisions would remain with national authorities. Talks with the European Parliament will now begin to come to a final compromise version of the proposed legislation.Statement follows and position is attached. ...
