Japan's Hino Motors and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus to merge in April 2026

( June 10, 2025, 09:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japanese truck manufacturers Hino Motors and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus have reached an agreement with their respective parent companies, Toyota Motor and Daimler Truck, to merge into a jointly held company. The new entity is scheduled to be listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in April 2026. Toyota and Daimler will each hold a 25 percent stake in the merged company, although Toyota's voting rights will amount to only 19.9 percent compared to Daimler's 26.7 percent. The merger, initially targeted for March 2024, was delayed due to investigations related to the Hino engine-certification scandal. The deal remains subject to shareholders' approval, as well as clearances and regulatory approvals from competition and other relevant authorities, according to a joint statement from Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso.
