Acciona-East Rockingham Waste review timeline extended by Australian watchdog

( June 3, 2025, 00:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A review of global infrastructure developer Acciona’s bid to acquire the East Rockingham Waste to Energy Program, which is currently in receivership, is continuing, with Australia’s competition watchdog announcing that it had extended its original deadline by a week. In an entry on its website, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission, or ACCC, said it had scrapped its original June 19 deadline and set June 26 as the new deadline for an announcement on the deal’s future, revealing that the original schedule had been suspended “to allow the parties more time to provide additional information.” The ACCC has said its review would focus on whether the deal was likely to reduce competition for waste-disposal services for municipal or commercial customers in Perth and the region of Peel.The entry on the ACCC's website follows: ...
