( October 8, 2026, 03:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms' Instagram and Facebook remain classified as high-risk platforms under Indonesia's online child-protection rules despite introducing Teen Account safety features, Communications and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid said Wednesday. The government will develop clearer indicators covering seven risk categories, including harmful content, unsafe interactions, addiction, security and mental health, to guide platforms in reducing risks to children under Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025, known as PP TUNAS. Following six months of implementation, Meta reported blocking about 184,000 accounts belonging to users under 16 and moving 22.5 million accounts to Teen Account features, while TikTok reported disabling about nine million accounts.
