In a statement Wednesday, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner said preliminary inquiries were issued in August to various manufacturers and distributors of smart glasses, including Meta, Kmart, Google and Shenzhen Qingcheng. Australian Privacy Commissioner Carly Kind said that because Shenzhen Qingcheng had not responded to the inquiries, the regulator had no assurance that the company is protecting the personal data of Australians as required by the 1988 Privacy Act.
