Thailand Post to develop Digital Post ID to reduce personal-data leaks
( September 11, 2026, 04:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thailand's Digital Economy and Society Ministry has instructed the Personal Data Protection Commission and Thailand Post to jointly develop a Digital Post ID system aimed at reducing the exposure of personal data on parcel labels. The proposed system would replace names, addresses and telephone numbers on packages with a six-digit code and QR code, with Thailand Post saying more than 24,000 employees have already registered to test the system. The ministry also instructed Thailand Post to integrate address ID data with the Interior Ministry's Department of Provincial Administration and the Commerce Ministry's Department of Business Development to improve the accuracy and management of a national digital-infrastructure database, while requiring PDPC and Thailand Post to establish safeguards against data breaches and consult stakeholders on the system's impact on users.Announcement follows (in Thai)....
