Independent auditor overseeing US Meta compliance seen as linchpin to deal

While no one thinks the auditor provision is perfect, it is one example of how the multiple states were able to negotiate compliance teeth into the settlement that New Mexico could not get from Meta in the court order it achieved earlier this month.The key enforcement pillar in the $17 billion settlement between Meta Platforms and US states is an independent auditor who, working with a bipartisan committee of six attorneys general, will decide whether Meta is honoring the terms of the landmark settlement....
