State AGs again seek limited intervention in US accords with property managers
( August 21, 2026, 15:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The attorneys general of the District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington have filed another motion to intervene in a settlement between private plaintiffs, apartment landlords and property managers in antitrust litigation over RealPage rental software. The states would intervene for the purpose "of participating in final-approval proceedings concerning settlement provisions that purport to affect enforcement rights the States are independently exercising against RealPage and many of the same landlords settling in this Multidistrict Litigation," said the motion filed in the US Middle District of Tennessee. The states were previously denied a motion for limited intervention in which they asked the Tennessee court to clarify that preliminary settlement approval orders don't apply to the states' parens patriae actions against overlapping defendants.
