Yoigo fined €200,000 by Spanish data watchdog for duplicate SIM

( August 10, 2026, 14:12 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: Spanish telecom provider Xfera Móviles – also known as Yoigo – was fined €200,000 by the country’s data watchdog for unlawfully processing a customer’s personal information. An employee failed to sufficiently follow the company's procedures for identity verification and issued a duplicate SIM card to an imposter. Since Yoigo was previously sanctioned for a similar incident, the regulator decided this violation showed serious negligence, even though other security controls blocked the SIM shortly afterward.Decision attached (in Spanish)....
