DC Court of Appeals denies Meta petition to keep documents confidential

( July 16, 2026, 15:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary:  Meta Platforms’ petition for a writ of mandamus directing a Washington, DC, court to vacate two discovery orders has been denied by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. The discovery orders, regarding material subject to the crime-fraud exception to the attorney-client privilege, required Meta to turn over material to the DC attorney general in litigation alleging social media harms to children. “Mandamus relief would be warranted only if the record clearly and indisputably foreclosed” the conclusion that Meta used the advice of attorneys to further a fraud, the court said, and based on the record in the case, “we do not see an adequate basis for mandamus relief.”See attached document....
