Japan PPC seeks comments on draft revisions to data-breach reporting notification

( July 16, 2026, 08:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission opened a public consultation on Thursday on draft revisions to a notification on data-breach reporting. The proposed amendments would allow entities to use a new common reporting form for personal data breaches arising from other cyberattack incidents, in addition to ransomware incidents, and to report through the National Cybersecurity Office's public-private collaboration platform.
