Meta files reply in support of quick appeal in US case over voiceprints

( July 8, 2026, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms filed a reply in support of its motion for leave to immediately appeal an order on summary judgment in a privacy case over voiceprints. Meta said that the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit should have the opportunity to take up the purely legal question of whether audio recordings are “biometric” under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act simply because Meta has the technical capability — which it did not exercise — to transform them into a different kind of data that could possibly be capable of identifying users.See attached file. ...
