Japan's Aflac Life Insurance reports data breach affecting 4.38 million customers

( June 30, 2026, 07:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Aflac Life Insurance Japan, the Japan-based subsidiary of US insurer Aflac, said Tuesday that unauthorized access to its customer website and related systems resulted in a data breach affecting the personal information of about 4.38 million customers, excluding national identification numbers and credit card information, and about 40,000 insurance agencies. It added that the leaked information included bank account details used to pay insurance premiums for about 230,000 of those customers. The company said it has not confirmed any unauthorized use of the leaked information, and that its investigation is continuing after unauthorized access began on June 15. Statement is attached (in Japanese)....
