South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong agree to strengthen privacy cooperation
( June 16, 2026, 02:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s privacy regulator has singed memorandums of understanding with its counterparts in Singapore and Hong Kong to strengthen regional cooperation on privacy protection, including efforts to combat the illegal circulation of personal information and enhance cross-border enforcement cooperation, on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities forum on Monday. The Personal Information and Protection Commission said that it will also work with Singapore on efforts to help narrow gaps in privacy enforcement capabilities across Asia by supporting cooperation between more established and emerging privacy regimes. The MOU agreements cover a range of areas, including the exchange of information and best practices in artificial intelligence privacy policies, mutual assistance in investigations and enforcement activities and the development of privacy-related education and training programs.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
