Trip.com among ticketing platforms warned over sales practices, data collection

( June 11, 2026, 09:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s State Administration for Market Regulation, together with the Cyberspace Administration of China and the National Railway Administration, said in a statement Thursday that it had summoned seven third-party ticketing platforms — including Trip.com, Tongcheng Travel, Qunar, Fliggy and Meituan — over concerns about noncompliant train-ticket sales practices. Regulators cited misleading promotion of paid ticket-grabbing and seat-selection services, inducements encouraging users to purchase routes that do not match their needs and improper collection and use of personal information. The agencies said the companies must comply with Chinese laws and regulations on fair competition, consumer rights, e-commerce and personal-information protection, strengthen compliance and standardize ticket-sales operations to protect consumers and maintain market order. Authorities also said they would step up enforcement and deal strictly with suspected violations.Statement follows (in Chinese). ...
