Vietnam fines Xiaomi over data-use, advertising practices

( June 3, 2026, 09:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Vietnam’s National Competition Commission has fined Xiaomi Vietnam 290 million dong ($11,000) for consumer-protection violations, including failing to obtain consumers’ consent before using their personal data for advertising and failing to disclose sponsorship arrangements with influencers. In a statement released Tuesday, the regulator said Xiaomi was also penalized for including prohibited clauses in its standard terms and conditions. The commission separately fined cosmetics distributor Y&B 50 million dong in January for failing to disclose influencer sponsorships, highlighting growing scrutiny of digital marketing and consumer-data practices. The statement follows (in Vietnamese)....
