Suicide forum faces £950,000 UK online safety fine, court-block threat

( May 13, 2026, 09:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: An online suicide forum has been fined £950,000 by UK regulator Ofcom for breaching the Online Safety Act, in the latest escalation of a year-long enforcement probe. The decision — published on Wednesday, without disclosing the name of the forum — follows provisional findings in February and earlier warnings that the forum’s UK geoblock was ineffective. Ofcom said the site remains accessible in the UK, and warned it's preparing an application for a court order requiring internet service providers to block access to the site if the provider fails to comply within 10 working days.Statement follows.
