Medibank data-breach trial in Australia set for October 2027

By Sean Maguire ( April 24, 2026, 06:13 GMT | Insight) -- Medibank Private, an Australian health insurer, will face trial over a massive 2022 data breach in October next year, a Federal Court judge ordered on Friday. Judge Jonathan Beach estimated the trial would take at least four weeks, but it could run longer. The class-action lawsuit against Medibank will come shortly after a similar trial against Optus, an Australian telecom provider.
