2Apply rental platform contravened privacy laws, Australian watchdog says (update*)

In a Wednesday statement, the Office of the Australian Privacy Commissioner said the platform would need to stop collecting certain personal data from applicants within 60 days. The regulator said its assessment of the platform’s “online choice architecture” — how it designs prompts and options for users — showed that 2Apply also collected personal information through unfair means.
