China summons online-travel platforms, warns against ticket-grabbing bots

( April 13, 2026, 02:17 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s Cyberspace Administration and the National Railway Administration have summoned seven major online-travel platforms, including Trip.com, Qunar, Meituan and Alibaba’s Fliggy, over train-ticket sales practices, according to a statement issued by the internet regulator on Friday. Citing China’s cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection rules, authorities warned the companies against using automated tools to conduct large-scale, high-frequency ticket grabbing that could disrupt the official 12306 booking system. Regulators said such practices must not interfere with the platform’s security-verification mechanisms or its stable operations. Officials added that technological monitoring will be stepped up and violations could face strict penalties under existing laws.Statement follows (in Chinese). ...
