Florida, other states ask US Supreme Court to rein in Section 230 immunity

( March 12, 2026, 21:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Florida and 16 other states filed an amicus brief urging the US Supreme Court to "rein in the judicial expansion” of Section 230 of the Communications Act, saying it should not prohibit states from regulating dangerous products. The case concerns privacy and sex-trafficking claims against X Corp. The states said that X is not a “publisher” because it knowingly maintained and distributed the materials, which are illegal contraband and not mere information. Also, even if X were a publisher, a carveout applies because its actions assisted predators that abused children by distributing the material to potential buyers, they said.See attached file. ...
