Study to evaluate impact of Australia's under-16 social-media ban, regulator says

In a statement on Thursday, the Australian eSafety Commissioner announced the commencement of a comprehensive evaluation of “Australia’s world-first social media minimum age to understand how the new obligation on platforms is working in practice — and what impact it is having on children, young people and families.” The regulator said that the study will follow over 4,000 children and families over more than two years using research methods including surveys with children, interviews and group discussions and opt-in, privacy protected smartphone-use tracking.Statement follows.
