Coupang pushes back on South Korea's breach-probe findings, cites lack of secondary harm

( February 11, 2026, 03:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Coupang disputed parts of the findings of South Korea’s joint public-private investigation team on its November 2025 data incident, saying the report omitted some of its own findings and that there is still no evidence of secondary harm. The company said a former employee, a Chinese national in South Korea, ran about 140 million automated queries that accessed data tied to more than 33 million accounts, but retained data from only about 3,000 accounts before later deleting it, consistent with recovered-device forensics now held by regulators. Coupang said the accessed data covered names, emails, phone numbers, delivery addresses, limited order histories and a limited number of building lobby-access codes, but not payment data, passwords or government-issued IDs. It said 2,609 accounts contained lobby codes and argued the Tuesday report cited 50,000 code queries while omitting Coupang’s analysis that access was limited to those accounts.Statement follows: ...
