Sendit messaging app moves to dismiss US FTC's COPPA lawsuit

( February 2, 2026, 17:17 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Operators of anonymous messaging app Sendit are seeking to dismiss a US Federal Trade Commission lawsuit accusing the company of violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule by collecting children’s data without parental consent as part of an alleged “fake message” scheme. In their motion, the defendants argue the FTC lifted allegations from its separate case against messaging app NGL without pleading facts showing Sendit sent fabricated messages to users under age 13 to drive subscription purchases or had “actual knowledge” it was collecting data from children.See attached filing....
