NHN Commerce fined 13.2 million won for data breach in South Korea

( January 29, 2026, 05:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: NHN Commerce, an e-commerce solution provider under South Korea’s NHN Group, was fined 13.2 million won ($9,245) on Thursday by the Personal Information Protection Commission for a data breach that exposed 122 customer records across 17 merchant websites, including names, phone numbers, addresses, order details and payment information. The PIPC found that SQL injection attacks in September 2024 exploited vulnerabilities in an outdated solution, leading to the data leak. The regulator concluded that the company failed to implement appropriate safeguards to prevent SQL injection attacks and did not properly notify affected individuals of the breach. The PIPC ordered the company to provide alternative solutions and support website migration for remaining users and to disclose the sanction decision on its website.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
