EU Commission considers mandatory phase-out of Chinese ICT vendors

The proposal, which is still being debated and may change, would make strategic sectors like healthcare, energy and telecommunications remove cheaper Chinese technologies from the entire supply chain, and is expected to trigger political and economic backlash across the EU.The European Commission is due to present a revised cybersecurity law on Jan. 14 that, if the current draft is confirmed, would introduce a mandatory regime for phasing out so-called high-risk vendors of ICT equipment like Huawei and ZTE from critical infrastructure, MLex has learned....
